Liberal Democrats: A Vision for Swindon

Town Centre University Planned?

12.09.28am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 21st Aug 2007

Swindon Borough Council has finally caught up with local Liberal Democrat ideas on town centre regeneration and higher education.

Cllr Stan Pajak said: "The Liberal Democrats in Swindon have long campaigned to built a University in the town centre and to protect the Coate site.

"A town centre University, built on brownfield sites, would provide a vibrant heart to Swindon and greatly benefit the local economy and community.

"We are pleased that the plan to build a University campus at the Coate Site of Special Scientific Interest is losing popularity, but don't think it's safe from development yet!"
